HI, I’M EJ!

(QUE ONDA!)

I’m a photographer with a love for capturing genuine emotion and candid moments. My style is simple, minimal, and subtly film-inspired.

My JOURNEY

My photography journey started back in 2016, the year I got my first camera — a gift that completely changed the way I saw the world. Around the same time, I had the chance to travel, and that combination of new places and a camera in hand? I was instantly hooked. I found myself wanting to capture everything — the big moments, the quiet ones, and all the in-betweens. Since then, photography has become my way of documenting life in its most real, unique, and creative WAY.

WHERE AM I NOW?

I’m currently based in sunny Pensacola, FL, where I get to do what I love every day. I work as one of the lead photographers at Pensacola Christian College (PCC), capturing everything from red carpet events and college sports games to professional portraits and behind-the-scenes moments. It’s a role that keeps me on my toes and lets me explore all kinds of photography — and honestly, I love the variety. No two days (or shoots) are ever the same, and that’s what keeps it exciting.

BACKGROUND

I’m originally from El Paso, Texas — also known as the Sun City, the City of the 915, and honestly, one of the most unique places out there. It’s where I grew up, and no matter where life takes me, it’ll always be home.

I’m a first-generation American, raised by amazing Mexican immigrant parents who filled home with love, Spanish, and lots of laughter. Growing up, I was taught to work hard, to never forget the importance of family, and to keep my biblical faith in God at the center of everything. these roots shaped who I am — and I carry that spirit with me wherever I go.

KOREAN INFLUENCE

One of the most unexpected and beautiful parts of my journey has been the friendships I’ve built with my Korean friends. From the moment we bonded over food (because of course, food brings people together!) and our love for SOCCER, I felt an instant connection. What started as casual hangouts quickly turned into deep friendships — they became some of my closest friends on campus.

Through them, I got a glimpse of what korean culture is like, and it left a huge mark on me — especially in how I view art and photography. I WAS instantly DRWAN to korean styles and art. They focus on clean, intentional, and minimalistic concepts. The colors, clean compositions, and the way everything feels effortlessly aesthetic — it’s not loud, but it speaks! THIS inspired me to be more thoughtful in my work, and find beauty in the simple things.

Coming from a rich Hispanic background, it was amazing to discover how much we shared — amazing food, core family values, and a strong cultural pride. Bridging those two worlds can be difficult but it is incredibly rewarding. It showed me how different cultures can blend in the most natural + beautiful way! one’s creativity can thrive when you open yourself up to new perspectives.
